As reported in Publisher’s Weekly, Hachette Book Group v-p for field sales and account marketing Karen Torres brought editors into the front lines of bookselling.

Booking a private bus, Torres took 26 publishers and editors (and a reporter) on a trip from Hachette’s New York headquarters to bookstores across Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The trip of 280 miles was accomplished in a single day packed full of meaningful conversations between editors and publishers and the booksellers who see the market in action.

Savoy Bookshop and Café owner Annie Philbrick told Publisher’s Weekly that “their job is to find books that move them, and then do that for readers. Our job is to do the same.”

Torres’s trip was a great success, and she is already planning for next year’s. To read more about this trip, see the article in Publisher’s Weekly here.
